The responsibilities of the Animal Control Division include: the control of disease, particularly rabies, among wild and domestic animals; maintenance of the Animal Shelter where adequate housing, food and water are provided; overseeing pet adoptions at the Shelter; and removal and/or control of stray animals that may be found on the streets of Parsippany.
Serving as a referral source for all citizens with sick, injured or aged animals, Animal Control provides information to the public on how best to care for their pets. They also educate the public with regard to humane treatment, licensing and restraining laws within the Township of Parsippany-Troy Hills.
All local ordinances and animal welfare laws are strictly enforced. Please note that all dogs must be licensed. There is a leash law in Parsippany that requires all dogs, when off property, to be contained by a leash.
Neutering programs, including inoculations, are promoted in conjunction with the Humane Society and New Jersey State Health Department guidelines.
The Animal Control Officers work with all law enforcement officials in conducting investigations concerning cruelty to animals. The Township of Parsippany-Troy Hills now has official Cruelty Investigators that are available to respond immediately.
The Animal Control Division issues permits for the Cameron Dog Park.
